“As pleased as I was to hear the news that we could get out on the bank again, I decided to leave it for a few days knowing the lake would be busy! I arrived at 05:30 and spent a couple of hours walking around, the areas I had fancied were all occupied, but with the weather warming up I decided to fish a swim which commands an area of open water and the side of an island.
Wanting to keep any disturbance to a minimum in bite time, I flicked 3 Classic Corn pop-ups out, spreading them across an area of shallower water. Having just sat down and put the kettle on, I had just sat back appreciating just how nice it was to be back at this stunning venue, when my middle rod went into meltdown which resulted in a very hard fighting 27lb 8oz common.”

“I left it until the afternoon to bait up each of my spots with 3kg of mixed 15mm Classic Corn, Catalyst and Smokey Jack boilies with some additional fishery pellet. This mixture was coated in Cloud Burst Syrup and Classic Corn glug for extra pulling power.
The night past without any action and very few signs of fish, however just as I was thinking bite time had past, my bobbin rose to the blank and line pulled out of the clip. With the clutch ticking away, I bent into what felt like a good fish and following a long and powerful fight I slipped the cord under a very chunky looking common! It turned out to be a fish aptly known as the ‘Perfect Common’, she spun the scales to 34lb 4oz, a new pb common and what a welcome back to West Stow!”
